What did the Fellowship or Laureate mean to you at the time you received it?
The grant allowed me to realize work that I would not have been able to fund otherwise.
What do you do now? Has your art evolved or changed?
I continue to be both a practicing artist and a university professor at Stanford. My art continues to change with every project, but kinetic and sound-based sculptures that address the environment and queer practice are ongoing threads in the work. What is one piece of advice you would give to an emerging artist?
