What did the Fellowship or Laureate mean to you at the time you received it?
It meant recognition as an artist and contributing member of the South Bay, by peers I greatly admire and a thriving community I am proud to serve.
What do you do now? Has your art evolved or changed?
I am a Professor of Acting and also work in an administrative capacity as Santa Clara University's Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion to create more artistic and academic opportunities for others. The time constraints mean I act only on occasion, but even this important work cannot keep me from the boards forever!
What is one piece of advice you would give to an emerging artist?
Invest in yourself! Sacrifice a little now for payoff later, example - The value of a pack of cigarettes goes into a savings account each week, and eventually into a Roth IRA.
Briefly, how would you describe the state of the arts locally, as well as national and beyond?
Life changing! Worthy of support!
