What did the Fellowship or Laureate mean to you at the time you received it?

I was very flattered to be awarded. The award made it possible to continue my life's work as a composer of sound art: electronic music performed live, not just from sound files.

What do you do now? Has your art evolved or changed?

With the electronics created to react to my wheelchair movements, I am able to cause my laptop to generate sound as I roll across a performing space, either outside or on a stage.

What is one piece of advice you would give to an emerging artist?

Exposure, the most important part of performance or gallery site, is your major pursuit.

Briefly, how would you describe the state of the arts locally, as well as national and beyond?
