Brian Belet lives in Campbell, California (USA), with his partner and wife Marianne Bickett. He performs with the ensemble SoundProof using Kyma, viola, and bass. What did the Fellowship or Laureate mean to you at the time you received it?

I was gratified and honored to receive this local level recognition, and to be included with the list of notable individuals who preceded me with fellowship recognition in music composition.

What do you do now? Has your art evolved or changed?

I continue to compose. Besides sitting at my desk with pen and paper, I also perform with the ensemble SoundProof, using Kyma (a sound design syPstem), viola and bass. What is one piece of advice you would give to an emerging artist?

Be true to yourself and your art.

Briefly, how would you describe the state of the arts locally, as well as national and beyond?
